Report  Web desk : The 24th death anniversary of Peoples Poet Habib Jalib is being observed solemnly all across the country today. Habib Jalib, whose real name was Habib Ahmad, was a fearless poet who had dedicated his life against the oppressive and exploitive system here. Born on March 24, 1928 in Miani Afghanan, Hoshiarpur Habib became the voice of the people to raise their afflitions and pathetic existence always fighting for the rights of the common man. He penned down his epic poem ‘Dastur’ against the then ruler president Ayub Khan in 1962. Later he stood up with Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah when she contested Ayub in general elections a few years later. Politically he was affiliated with National Awami Pary. He penned down another epic poem ‘Larkanay chalo verna thanay chalo during Bhutto’s rule. And still later he came up with ‘Zulmat ko zia, sarsar ko saba, banday ko khuda kya likhna’ as protest against Ziaul Haq’s rule.(01)
