Report  Ali Murad Chandio : JAMSHORO: Governor of Sindh His Excellency Mr. Mohammad Zubair inaugurated “Community Health FM Radio” “Advanced Diagnostic & Research Center” and “Aisha Siiddiqua (RA) Working Women Hostel” at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro on 18th March 2017. While addressing the Inaugural Ceremony the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Noshad A. Shaikh expressed that the establishment of FM radio station at LUMHS is an initiative to fight against diseases by developing continuous and sustainable awareness amongst people of our community. This is for the first time in the history of Sindh that we have provided a platform to our doctors, surgeons and researchers to educate our nation about general health issues and their preventive measures through mass media. Regarding the establishment of Working Women Hostel the Vice Chancellor informed we believe that women should be empowered without any gender discrimination because they play a major role to develop a nation. Working women should be provided a better working environment along with a secured residency. Several women are leaving their homes in search of employment in large and industrial cities. Recently there has been a rapid industrial growth at Jamshoro and its surroundings. In addition, this city encompasses three major public universities. Keeping in view the geographical importance of Jamshoro, the Liaquat University of Medical and health sciences has introduced hostel facilities for working women at Jamshoro along with a day care center. By now women after the completion of their education can work and serve their professions with peace and security. He added that The Liaquat University of Medical and health sciences Jamshoro is located at the junction of national highway and Indus highway. These highways are marked for severe and life threatening road traffic accidents. There is no any established modern imaging system in the vicinity which can provide the diagnostic services in an emergency. However, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences has planned to establish advanced diagnostic and research center which will cater the major need of our people in Sindh. The Governor Sindh expressed that awareness regarding health and prevention are essential ingredients which keep the nation healthy and we are escaped from diseases. Strong communication with masses regarding preventive measure of health may save billions of rupees spent on diseases. In this regard FM Radio services by Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences will play a pivotal role to save the people from diseases. He added that the newly established Advanced Diagnostic & Research Center will be very helpful not only for doctors to diagnose the diseases promptly and in turn this time saving will save many lives. Further it is evident that from this facility a vast population of this region will be benefited. The Governor further expressed that working women’s hostel was the dire need of the day. It is a bitter truth that still our working women are not being provided with good level of security with helpful working atmosphere in the offices, residential and transport facilities and many other things which will bring them up. The Governor informed that being the Chancellor he is going to visit the Universities located in the interior of Sindh in near future. The formal Inaugural Session was attended by the Vice Chancellors of University of Sindh, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology Jamshoro, Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Peoples University of Medical Sciences Nawabshah and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Medical University Larkana.
