Report  Web desk : KARACHI: Former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Sunday termed his arrest a kidnapping saying that those who came to apprehend him did not introduce themselves. “Last night, I was kidnapped and not arrested, because they did not introduce themselves despite my repeatedly asking them. There could be a respectable way to arrest people,” he said while addressing media in Islamabad. He said some 8 to 10 men in plain clothes went to him at the airport in Islamabad and forcibly boarded him on a vehicle. He said he could not realize that he was arrested until he was face to face with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials. Memon was arrested on charges of corruption and then released shortly after he produced bail documents to the law enforcement authorities. “I had approached court to inquire about placing my name on ECL, following which I was sent no notice and was neither summoned by any institution,” he said. A reference was filed against him in October 2016 without hearing him. Then, he sent medical history to get bail in corruption cases, he said. “Why would I have applied for bail, had I not have to come back?” he questioned. He said after Allah (SWT) he had complete faith in judiciary. He said he would face allegations in court and not plead against conviction.(01)
