Report  Ali Murad Chandio : JAMSHORO: The vice chancellor of Sindh University Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat has decided to open up a new campus of the varsity at Malir, Karachi for imparting higher education at the doorsteps of downtrodden people of the district. He also hinted at starting summer classes for the students at Gorakh Hill Station in order to prepare them for semester and other competitive examinations. He was addressing the meeting of pro-vice chancellors and concerned officers of the University which was convened here at Vice Chancellor’s Office on Monday. Dr. Burfat said that he wanted to establish a university campus which would be at par with world class institutions where higher education including natural sciences, social sciences, arts & humanities and skill development will be imparted as part of efforts to empower poor students. He said the government of Sindh will be approached to allocate handsome amount for the establishment of campus in the budget so as to start working on the project. He said that the roadmap had been worked out to establish a campus at Malir and the proposal in this regard would be submitted to the Government of Sindh at earliest for necessary approval and provision of funds as well as a government building to start the campus. The vice chancellor further said that he had also planned to start summer session at Gorakh Hill Station situated at Dadu district in order to provide the students with an opportunity to learn in the best environment, weather and healthy atmosphere. Appreciating the efforts taken by the SU’s Directorate Estates for preserving the varsity land record properly, he said that every inch of the land of Sindh University would be safeguarded and the land grabbers will not be allowed even to have a look at it. It may be noted that the meeting was convened to discuss the issues related to the campuses of the university so that the required efforts may be taken to improve the overall situation and review facilities being provided at the campuses to the students before the summer vacations are ended. On the occasion, the vice chancellor advised the pro vice chancellors to review their development schemes with the consultation of the concerned offices and prepare their PC-I accordingly so that the same may be submitted to the Government of Sindh for the allocation of funds in the current budget. Dr. Burfat also advised the pro vice chancellors to take efforts to get official land from the Government in order to construct the class rooms and offices at the concerned campuses. Among others, PVC Badin Campus Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, PVC Thatta Campus Dr. Sarfraz Hussain Solangi, PVC Larkana Campus Dr. Noor Muhammad Jamali, PVC Mirpurkhas Campus Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Gachal, Director Estates Muhammad Usman Mangi and Advisor Planning & Development Sajid Qayoom Memon participated in the meeting. 02
