Quetta: Traffic Police playing positive role in curbing problems, says SSP

Report Web desk : Senior Superintendent Police Quetta Hamid Shakeel has said that traffic police captured and handed over custom authorities 87 non-custom paid vehicles worth 80 million while 1,39,566 vehicles were served challans which brought revenue of 345, 88, 500 during year 2016. He shared the above data at his office on Saturday while briefing newsmen regarding the annual performance of Traffic Police. He said that Traffic Police had also taken action against 316 vendors while 2178 unregistered bikes were also taken into custody. Speaking to media, he said that Quetta is home to everyone living in it and provision of facilities to the inhabitants of Quetta is their mandate. He said that notwithstanding shortage of resources and manpower, traffic police was rendering services to the masses. He appealed to the elected representatives to cooperate with traffic police for ensuring a smooth flow of traffic, saying that the elected representatives at least provide necessary equipment to them from their development funds. He appreciated the move by Speaker Balochistan Assembly Ms. Raheela Durrani and MPA Tahir Mehmood Khan for providing offices, road spikes, T-barriers to Traffic Police from their special funds. He also said that Government should establish Traffic Engineering Bureau in the provincial capital and take steps for meeting the shortage of manpower in the Department.
