Civil Society protesting for missing persons at Badin

Report  Tanweer Ahmed Arain : BADIN: Hundreds of protesters hailing from different towns and cities of district Badin staged a protest against the “forced disappearance” of the local writer Ghulam Raza Jarwar, a local vaccinator, Ali Ahmed Bughio, Shadi Khan Soomro and Abdul Aziz Gurgaz in front of Badin press club on Saturday. The protesters while marching the main streets of Badin led by representative of Civil Society, Punal Sario, Saleem Jarwar, HRCP Coordinator, Mustafa Mirani, Vice chairman, Pakistan Fisher Folk Forum, Dr. Ashok Thama, HRCP special Task force Coordinator, Manzoor Ahmed Thaheem, renowned columnist, Advocate Amjad Ali Palijo, HRCP council member, Lala Haleem Shaikh and others staged sit at DC chowk Badin for several hours consequently the traffic was jammed and memorandum was also produced to the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Badin. Addressing the large number of protesters speakers including Dr. Ashok Thama, Punal Sario, Saleem Jarwar, Amjad Ali Palijo and others deplored that missing persons were not related with any nationalist groups and are employees of different Govt departments of Sindh adding that they were also much feared about the lives of the missing persons. They lamented that despite their huge protests and humble appeals no one turned positive to hear their voice adding they appealed to Chief of Army Staff Pakistan, Chief justice of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Interior Minister of Pakistan, and provincial authorities to take immediate notice of “forced disappearance” of their relatives and they demanded all those taken away must be released, as if they were involved in any ill activities against the country than forces must produce them in the courts. Other hand relatives of the missing persons also filed an appeal in the Sindh High court for illegal forced disappearance of the peaceful citizen and hearing was fixed on June 13. 02
