Cold breeze turns Karachi weather chilly

KARACHI: 17, DECEMBER, 2021: The weather turned cold and dry as cold Siberian winds have gripped Karachi.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature dropped to 10 degrees Celsius in the port city this morning.
The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 24 degrees Celsius during the day, whereas humidity in the air was 56 per cent.
The Met Office said that cold wave conditions are likely to intensify in the next 48 hours.
In its weather report, the department said cold and dry weather is likely to prevail in most parts of the country during the next 12 hours while very cold in upper districts and north Balochistan.
Dense fog/smog will continue to envelope parts of Punjab which paralyzed routine life and disrupted normal road, rail and air traffic to and from various cities in Punjab.
The flight operation at the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore was disrupted as the visibility was very low.
On the other hand, the authorities also temporarily closed the motorways due to poor visibility, including the Motorway Section from Thokar to Kot Momin (M2), Motorway Section from Lahore to Samundri (M3), Motorway Section from Bahi Interchange to Gojra Interchange (M4), Multan Motorway (M5) from Uch Sharif to Zahir Pir and Motorway Section from Lahore to Sialkot (M11).
