Cricket Fever enters Hyderabad: Bookies become active offering 10 times more on Pakistan

Report  Kaleem Butt : HYDERABAD: Cricket fever enters Hyderabad as the day of big final between arch rivals Pakistan and India come nearer. The youth of Hyderabad seemed excited on the big final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 to be played between India and Pakistan on Sunday, while they are missing the Hyderabad based Pakistani opening batsman Sharjeel Khan, who was suspended over spot fixing charges in Second Edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). While bookies becoming active have started to give out high offers of the final to be played between the arch rivals, they are offering 10 times more to those who want to go with Pakistan. However, the youth of Hyderabad are looking forward for the big match and they are laying all hopes on Pakistani captain Sarfaraz Khan claiming “Sarfaraz Dhoka Naheen Deega” (Sarfaraz would not betray them). In this regards “OIN” got opinions of different people regarding the upcoming thriller between India and Pakistan, Imran Shah sharing his views claimed that: “this reminds me of the 1992 World Cup in which Pakistan teams performance at start was below average but we became the world champions, even then it was holy month of Ramzan, and now we have the same situation, God is with us and hopefully we would snatch away the ICC champions Trophy from Indians and show them that we are the best, I am missing Hyderabad based batsman Sharjeel Khan.” Another cricket loving fan Ayaz Khan said: “I am very much happy that we have been provided to take revenge from India of our earlier defeat, it all depends upon the Pakistani bowling attack they have to handle the pressure and crush the strong Indian batting line, I would go for Junaid Khan, he is the one to break strong Indian batting line.” Even the girls seemed excited about the match and hoped that Pakistan would lift the trophy but they said that they are missing Sharjeel Khan, who was suspended on spot fixing charges during PSL. The youngsters said that on the day of final they would paint their faces with Pakistani flags and pray for victory of their team, they raised slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad.” On the other hand credible sources claim that bookies in Hyderabad have become active in areas of Latifabad, Qasimabad and Hyderabad city as Pakistan and India have qualified for final of ICC Champions Trophy and are offering ten times more to people betting on Pakistan as compared to India. In this regard police spokesman talking to “OIN” said that police and other law enforcing agencies are keeping vigilant eye over bookies and would not allow anyone to have bet that is illegal and they would start search operations throughout city in this regard. It may be noted that both the teams came face-to-face with each other in the pool match and India defeated Pakistan, while Pakistan had a wonderful come back in the tournament and bet South Africa, Sri Lanka and England in semi-final, while India bet Bangladesh and qualified for the final. ICC Champions Trophy was started from 1998, it is played in every two years, eight top test playing teams qualify for it and in first edition it was a knock out tournament and South Africa won the first tournament, in 2000 New Zealand lifted the trophy, in 2002 India and Sri Lanka shared the trophy, in 2004 West Indies won the final, in 2006 and 2009, Aussies won the championship, however, the championship was delayed for few years and in 2013 India won the trophy, and now in 2017, Pakistan, which has for the first qualified for final of championship has fair chance to lift the champions trophy. 02
