Education Department Sukkur celebrates World Space Week

Report  Bisma Waseem : Sukkur: Department of Education Sukkur IBA University organized World Space Week in collaboration with SUPARCO under the theme of “Exploring New Worlds”. Students of Sukkur IBA University, community colleges of SIBA, Public School Sukkur as well government schools participated in various events and took keen interest in space quiz competition, Space spelling competition, opening of space stations, debate competition, solar observation, space bus show and others. The acting vice chancellor Sukkur IBA University Engr. Zahid Hussain Khan appreciated the role of ESTIR Club in providing awareness to the students regarding space, solar system, lunar system, galaxy and stars. He was of the view that, the future belongs to the space and satellites as our television network and mobile phone network is running through satellites in space. He urged upon the students to switchover to space science to further brighten their future. He also lauded the untiring efforts of Assistant Professor Ms. UnaezaAlvi, who is the founder and patron in chief of ESTIR Club. Director Technical SUPARCO Mr. Amir Ahmed Khan while interacting with the students apprised them about the space, galaxy and stars. He emphasized upon the students to opt for the space science, because time is not far when the human being will start living at other planets. He showed them different research projects, besides documentaries about the space in space bus. Assistant Professor Ms. UneazaAlvi told that, the purpose of the space week was to provide space awareness to the students. She told that, during the space week, students were given opportunity for solar observation, night gazing of moon and its craters and stars and planets. Quiz competition was won by IBA Community College Khairpur, while Public School Sukkur secured second position and there was tie for the third position between IBA Community College Jacobabad and Gulshan Sindhi School. In debate competition Public school Sukkur Laiba clinched first position, while Shayan of Public School Larkana secured second position and Azir of IBA Community College NaushahroFeroze got third position. 02
