First Indian female wrestler Kavita

Report  Web Desk : NEW YORK: If you don’t know who Kavita Devi is, it’s high time you did, as in the male dominated sport that wrestling continues to be, Kavita is a woman wrestler who is making it big. Earlier this year, the former competitive power lifter from Haryana became the first Indian woman to compete in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The South Asian Games gold medal winner was selected to compete in the Mae Young Classic, which is the first ever WWE tournament for women. And now, a video of the wrestler fighting in a salwar-kurta has gone viral. Devi caught attention of the WWE scouts during the Dubai tryouts in April and impressed the officials with her imposing figure and strength. In the first round of the Mae Young Classic, Devi entered wearing the traditional attire, an orange shalwar kameez with a dupatta around her waist. She dominated her opponent, New Zealand’s Dakota Kai, throughout the match, showing power moves (like her trainer Khali), as well as a blend of Lucha Libre style arm drags. 02
