Foreign Funding case: ECP rejects plea to make report secret

ISLAMABAD: 18, JANUARY, 2022: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday has rejected the plea to make the report of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) foreign funding case secret.
During the proceedings, the commission expressed shock over such an order, saying that the report has already become a public document.
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered the scrutiny committee formed for Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to submit report in 10 days.
Earlier, on January 4, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday directed to provide scrutiny committee's report to both the parties in PTI funding case.
As per sources, ECP took up hearing on a case pertaining to illegal funding of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
During the proceedings, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) representative requested to keep the content secrete till the submission of all the replies.
The chief election commissioner (CEC) said that "he is not in the position of stopping anyone to not make the report public."
Later, the court has adjourned the hearing for 15 days.
It is pertinent to mention here that, the PTI foreign funding case continues to linger since November 2014 when it was filed by Mr Babar, the party’s founding member. (04)
