Report  Web Desk : Quetta: Irregularities of nearly Rs3.5 billion were detected in the accounts of Food Department in the province, according to the Auditor General of Balochistan’s audit report for the year 2016-17. According to the report, misappropriation of funds worth more than Rs3.5 billion uncovered in the accounts of the Food Department Balochistan points to non-production of records, irregular payments, investing surplus funds without approval, irregular expenditure on purchases of wheat, bought wheat over demand. Over 83 thousand 443 wheat sacks were missing from the department, report said. Its not enough, the report also highlighted recurring of wheat since 2013. Over 3 lakh wheat sacks were sold in the market on old price which claimed over 15 million loss to the department. Report also revealed that during 2013-14, around 11 thousands wheat sacks were defected and claimed huge loss to health department. During 2013-15, irregular expenditure on purchases of wheat and illegal payment were the main reasons behind the irregularities in the Balochistan Food Department. 02
