Low flood warning issued at Sukkur Barrage

Report  Bisma Waseem : Sukkur: Irrigation Department has issued low flood warning due to increase of water level within next 24 hours in the River Indus. Abdul Aziz Soomro, In charge of Control Room of Sukkur Barrage said that as result of heavy rains in KPK and Punjab, the water level in the river Indus has been increased speedily and within 24 hours the water level at Guddu Barrage would be 2, 50,000 cusecs therefore low flood has been declared at Guddu Barrage therefore vacations of irrigation department staff have been cancelled. He said that present status of water level as recorded, at upstream of Guddu Barrage 1,98,406 cusecs and downstream 1,87,108 cusecs, upstream at Sukkur Barrage 1,46,890 cusecs and downstream 1,02,000 cusec and water level at upstream of Kotri Barrage recorded as 65,628 cusec while at downstream 51,738 cusecs. Due to expectation of flood in river Indus, the district administration of Sukkur has decided principally to migrate the people who have occupied embankments of Dadu, Rice and Khirthar canals off-taking right bank of Sukkur Barrage. 02
