Pakistan sees significant rise in corona infections with 2,074 cases

ISLAMABAD: 12, JANUARY, 2022: Coronavirus infections tally in the country has climbed to 1,309,248 on Wednesday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 2,074 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 4.7 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 490,010 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 448,924, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 181,842, in Balochistan 33,664 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 109,660, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,433 while 34,715 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 28,987 deaths so far, after 13 death was reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,083 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,691 in Sindh, 5,945 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 967 deaths and AJK recorded 748 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 23,935,232, corona tests and 44,120 in last 24 hours and 1,259,699 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 469,208 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 430,012 in Punjab, 175,306 in KP, 33,263 in Balochistan, 107,741 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,243 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,922 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 617 patients are in critical condition.
