Petrol price hike: Maulana Fazl convenes PDM emergency meeting today

ISLAMABAD: 06, NOVEMBER, 2021: JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has summoned an emergency meeting of top party leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement today (Saturday).
According to sources, the PDM meeting will take place at 3:30pm during which a protest strategy against the increase in prices of petroleum products and growing inflation will be reviewed.
Leaders of all parties in the PDM will participate in the session via video link.
Ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz will attend the meeting.
It will also be attended by other PDM leaders including Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Balochistan National Party-Mengal chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) leader Maulana Owais Noorani.
The meeting will review a joint strategy for the joint sitting of Parliament on November 10, in which 18 bills, including EVM, e-voting and the right to vote for Pakistanis living abroad will be passed.
On late Thursday night, government increased the price of petrol by Rs 8.03 per litre with immediate effect.
According to a notification issued in this regard, the new price of petrol will be Rs 145.82 per litre against the current rate of Rs 137.79 per litre.
The prices of high-speed diesel (HSD) were enhanced by Rs 8.14 per litre and will now cost Rs142.62 per litre.
The price of kerosene oil was also increased by Rs 6.27 per litre to Rs 116.53 per litre.
In addition, light diesel oil will cost Rs 5.72 per litre and will be at Rs114.07 per litre. (04)
