Social Activists form DMC to enforce Child Marriage Act 2016

Report  Bisma Waseem : Sukkur: NARI foundation in collaboration with UN Women and Sindh Community Foundation formed a District Monitoring Committee (DMC) to enforce the child marriage restrain act 2016. Orientation meeting of the Committee was held under the leadership of ADC1 Mr. Ali Raza Ansari at DC office Sukkur today. It was decided in the meeting that Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Raheem Bux Metlo will serve as Chairman of the committee and Deputy Director of Women Development Abdul Ghaffar Thaheem will serve the DMC as Secretary. The meeting also adjudicated to hold gathering of Monitoring Committee every month to discuss about efforts which can be implemented for enforcement of law. ADC1 Ali Raza Ansari said that it is hard to stop child marriage but through this committee we will try our best to prevent this cruel violence. Executive director of NARI foundation Anwar Ali Mahar, Afshan Asghar, Head of SEF Rehana Ali and others said that Child Marriage is a curse which had destroyed the youth of Pakistan. They said that it is duty of all Pakistanis to take strict action against early marriages. Well known personalities of Sindh including Director of SWD Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Raheem Bux Mahar, Naheed Akhtar, Almas Mangi, Police Officer Mubashir Hussain,Senior Journalist Mushtaq Tanwari and Farooq Somroo also participated in the meeting and promised to render their services to stop early marriages in Sindh. 02
