161 dead, 137 hurt in heavy monsoon rains across country: NDMA

ISLAMABAD: 12,AUGUST,2019: At least 161 people were lost their lives and 137 others were sustained injuries in monsoon rain-related incidents and flooding across the country.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority Pakistan (NDMA), the ongoing heavy monsoon rain and flooding claimed at least 161 lives including 72 men, 35 women whereas 54 children among dead.
320 houses, 53 shops, 4 mosques, 14 bridges, 3 power houses and 34 roads were damaged as rain hit Pakistan, NDMA report reads.
Damages were reported from KPK as 56 people were dead, 57 were severely injured whereas 88 houses, one mosque, 3 bridges, 2 shops, 3 power houses and one link road, report stated.
In AJK, as much as 35 people were killed, 13 others were sustained wounds while 101 houses, 43 shops, 3 mosques, one link road were damaged during heavy rain.
In Punjab, at least 27 people were lost their lives and 36 others were injured whereas 33 houses were destroyed.
Moreover, in Sindh, at least 23 persons were dead and 12 others were hurt while 33 houses were damaged during downpour.
In Balochistan, as much as 12 people were dead and 10 others were wounded while in Gilgit Baltistan heavy rain left 6 dead and 9 injured.
Other than that, in Islamabad, 2 people were lost their lives during heavy showers, report added. (04)
