59 more succumb to coronavirus in Pakistan, 1,947 new cases reported

ISLAMABAD: 05, JANUARY, 2021: The number of coronavirus infections has climbed to 490,476 on Tuesday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,947 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 35,707.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 219,452 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 141,393, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 59,729, in Balochistan 18,254 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 38,395, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,870 while 8,383 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 10,409 deaths so far, after 59 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 4,160 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 3,623 in Sindh, 1,683 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 101 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 185 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 428 deaths and AJK recorded 229 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 6,884,940 corona tests and 35,073 in last 24 hours and 444,360 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 197,870 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 126,225 in Punjab, 54,668 in KP, 17,829 in Balochistan, 35,253 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4,717 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 7,798 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 2,219 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
