JAMSHORO: October/5, 2018: The Entry Test for admission in 2018 in Centre of Excellence in Art and Design (CEAD), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro was conducted at the Centre, to (on Saturday).
Different blocks were established for 470 candidates appearing from Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Biltistan, Kashmir, FATA and all over the country.
There are total 155 seats available for the candidates with 50% quota reserved for Sindh and 50% for other parts of the country at the Centre in Fine Art, Architecture, Communication Design and Textile Design Departments.
The entry test comprised of two major sections, the first of multiple choice questions and second of drawing, whereas both sections carried equal marks 50 each.
Vice-chancellor MUET Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, Pro Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Dean Architecture and Civil Engineering MUET Prof. Dr. Khan Muhammad Brohi, Director CEAD MUET Prof. Dr. Bhai Khan Shar, V.C Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-ud-Din Sehrai, Director Finance MUET Engr. Munir Ahmad Shaikh, Engr. Suhail Ahmed Khatian and other officials paid visit in the test blocks.
Speaking to the media persons V.C MUET, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaili said that in whole world initially people used to concentrate on Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering but now the dimensions are changed and people have included art as their primary field.
He said that the number of students at CEAD is growing with the passage of time and this year 25% more candidates have applied for the test which is obviously a significant trademark.
V. C MUET said that the intermediate boards announce results very late that’s why academic sessions at various universities are disturbed so government should take measures for that.
Dr. Uqaili said that there are limited seats in every university and every candidate can’t be accommodated so students must not get disappointed and try to work hard for different options in life.
Dr. Uqaili said that art brings creativity and innovation in different things and we always expect that the graduates of this Centre will do better for this society.
Director CEAD Prof. Dr. Bhai Khan Shar said that entry test process is very much sensitive so we try to make it transparent at our best level and the committee consisted of credible people is constituted which assures the transparency process anyhow.
He said that the society in which we live people try to approach for admission in different ways but we never compromise on our credibility and select such brilliant students purely on merit as they may prove as cream of the society.
The announcement center was established for awareness and information of candidates and parents whereas everyone was allowed to enter the test block after complete checking.
Separate seating arrangement was made for the parents where they were shown documentaries regarding history, activities and performance of the Centre as well an exhibition was displayed at A. R. Nagori Gallery where students displayed their art work and parents appreciated their skills. 01
