CM Buzdar approves green electric buses plan for Lahore

LAHORE: 11, NOVEMBER, 2020: Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday has approved green electric buses plan for Lahore to help in reducing pollution and smog in the province.
While chairing a meeting regarding public transport in Lahore, CM Buzdar approved the plan that will see electric buses plying 103-kilometre long six routes and directed the relevant authorities to put forth proposals after weighing all options to materialise the scheme.
Usman Buzdar also approved recruitment of transport inspectors, sub-inspectors and sergeants and directed to take necessary steps for starting electric bus service as soon as possible.
He also directed to raise status of Lahore Transport Company (LTC) to Punjab Transport Company (PTC).
Usman Buzdar also directed transport department to submit their recommendations regarding the purchase process after considering all the options.
Meanwhile, CM announced that electric buses will be launched with public-private partnership in rest of the province. (04)
