COVID-19 cases exceed 70 million worldwide, death toll hits 1,588,348

WASHINGTON: 11, DECEMBER, 2020: The countries all over the world are facing continuous spike in COVID-19 related cases and deaths, despite the strict restrictions.
The number of coronavirus cases recorded worldwide has crossed 70 million (70,717,552), according to John Hopkins and AFP tally while the deadly virus claimed 1,588,348 lives worldwide so far and 49,148,075 patients have been recuperated.
The number of people infected with corona in the US, the world's hardest-hit country has risen to 16,039,393 and the total number of deaths has reached 299,692.
India, the second hardest-hit country reported 9,796,992 cases with 142,222 deaths.
Brazil is the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus, with 6,783,543 patients and 179,801 deaths.
In Russia, 2,569,126 people have been infected by Corona while the total death toll rose to 45,280.
South Africa, the fifth highest number of infections in the world, after the US, Brazil, India and Russia. The death toll from Coronavirus in South Africa has risen nearly 22,740, with 836,764 people affected.
In Peru, the death tally has jumped to 36,499, with 979,111 infections.
On the other hand, Mexico reported 1,217,126 cases so far with 112,326 fatalities.
The coronavirus has infected more than 566,440 people in Chile and left 15,774 dead.
Number of cases in Spain has climbed to 1,734,386 with 47,344 deaths.
In UK, the virus infections reached 1,787,783 and death toll rose to 63,082.
The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has jumped to 1,083,023 and 51,496 have been died.

American scientist Dr. Anthony Fauchi has warned Americans that the corona virus could be more dangerous because of Christmas.
The American scientist said that the new year will be a challenge for the United States because after Christmas, the novel virus could take a dangerous turn.
The scientist added that "We are in a critical situation right now, so we have to keep the facts in mind."
