COVID-19 cases exceed 75 million worldwide, death toll hits 1,668,356

WASHINGTON: 18, DECEMBER, 2020: The countries all over the world are facing continuous spike in COVID-19 related cases and deaths, despite the strict restrictions.
The number of coronavirus cases recorded worldwide has crossed 75 million (75,282,798), according to John Hopkins and AFP tally while the deadly virus claimed 1,668,356 lives worldwide so far and 52,852,602 patients have been recuperated.
The number of people infected with corona in the US, the world's hardest-hit country has risen to 17,626,770 and the total number of deaths has reached 317,928.
India, the second hardest-hit country reported 9,979,447 cases with 144,829 deaths.
Brazil is the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus, with 7,111,527 patients and 184,876 deaths.
In Russia, 2,762,668 people have been infected by Corona while the total death toll rose to 49,151.
South Africa, the fifth highest number of infections in the world, after the US, Brazil, India and Russia. The death toll from Coronavirus in South Africa has risen nearly 24,010, with 892,813 people affected.
In Peru, the death tally has jumped to 36,901, with 991,518 infections.
On the other hand, Mexico reported 1,289,298 cases so far with 116,487 fatalities.
The coronavirus has infected more than 578,732 people in Chile and left 16,007 dead.
Number of cases in Spain has climbed to 1,805,633 with 48,777 deaths.
In UK, the virus infections reached 1,948,660 and death toll rose to 66,052.
The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has jumped to 1,138,530 and 53,095 have been died.

American scientist Dr. Anthony Fauchi has warned Americans that the corona virus could be more dangerous because of Christmas.
