COVID-19 claims 58 lives in Pakistan, 2,475 cases reported

ISLAMABAD: 31, DECEMBER, 2020: The number of coronavirus infections has mounted to 479,715 on Thursday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 2,475 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 34,537.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 214,425 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 137,949, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 58,379, in Balochistan 18,148 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 37,702, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,856 while 8,256 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 10,105 deaths so far, after 58 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 4,013 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 3,533 in Sindh, 1,638 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 101 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 183 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 416 deaths and AJK recorded 221 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 6,696,068 corona tests and 39,695 in last 24 hours and 435,073 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 194,651 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 123,269 in Punjab, 53,272 in KP, 17,702 in Balochistan, 33,857 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4,705 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 7,617 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 2,206 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
