COVID-19 infects 1,272 people in Pakistan, kills 56 more

ISLAMABAD: 18, FEBRUARY, 2021: The number of coronavirus cases has jumped to 567,261 on Thursday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,272 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 24,176.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 254,678 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 165,716, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 70,306, in Balochistan 18,958 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 43,029, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,945 while 9,629 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 12,488 deaths so far, after 56 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 5,138 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 4,263 in Sindh, 2,015 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 199 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 487 deaths and AJK recorded 284 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 8,567,761 corona tests and 36,543 in last 24 hours and 530,597 patients have recovered.
