COVID-19 infects 2,408 people in Pakistan, takes 41 lives in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: 12, JANUARY, 2021: The number of coronavirus infections has reached 506,701 on Tuesday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 2,408 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 34,007.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 227,885 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 146,016, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 61,648, in Balochistan 18,429 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 39,340, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,882 while 8,501 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 10,717 deaths so far, after 41 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 4,299 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 3,708 in Sindh, 1,743 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 101 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 188 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 443 deaths and AJK recorded 235 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 7,162,626 corona tests and 40,088 in last 24 hours and 461,977 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 206,927 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 130,765 in Punjab, 56,714 in KP, 17,955 in Balochistan, 36,895 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4,739 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 7,982 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 2,340 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
