COVID-19 kills 54 more people, infects 1,353 in single day in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: 09, MARCH, 2021: The number of coronavirus cases has climbed to 593,453 on Tuesday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,353 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 16,349.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 259,956 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 178,648, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 74,167, in Balochistan 19,121 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 45,976, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,959 while 10,626 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 13,281 deaths so far, after 54 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 5,600 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 4,436 in Sindh, 2,118 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 201 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 511 deaths and AJK recorded 313 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 9,278,613 corona tests and 31,786 in last 24 hours and 563,823 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 251,394 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 166,503 in Punjab, 69,527 in KP, 18,828 in Balochistan, 43,134 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4,853 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 9,584 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,644 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
