Corona claims 82 more lives in Pakistan, infects 1,704 people in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: 22, DECEMBER, 2020: The number of coronavirus infections has jumped to 460,672 on Tuesday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,704 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 40,261.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 205,484 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 132,526, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 55,450, in Balochistan 17,950 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 36,416, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,831 while 8,015 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 9,474 deaths so far, after 82 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 3,688 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 3,352 in Sindh, 1,553 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 99 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 179 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 393 deaths and AJK recorded 210 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 6,370,707 corona tests and 34,594 in last 24 hours and 410,937 patients have recovered whereas 2,398 patients are in a critical condition across the country. (04)
