Coronavirus claims 40 more lives in Pakistan, infects 1,245 people in a day

ISLAMABAD: 19, FEBRUARY, 2021: The number of coronavirus cases has jumped to 568,506 on Friday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,245 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 24,139.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 255,039 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 166,242, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 70,493, in Balochistan 18,967 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 43,145, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,947 while 9,673 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 12,527 deaths so far, after 40 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 5,166 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 4,267 in Sindh, 2,020 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 199 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 488 deaths and AJK recorded 285 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 8,602,515 corona tests and 34,754 in last 24 hours and 531,840 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 238,030 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 153,924 in Punjab, 66,391 in KP, 18,675 in Balochistan, 41,139 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4,816 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 8,865 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,626 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
