Coronavirus claims another 21 lives in Pakistan, infects 1,021 in single day

ISLAMABAD: 13, OCTOBER, 2021: The number of COVID-19 cases has reached 1,260,669 on Wednesday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database 1,021 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 2.34 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 463,703 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 436,720, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 176,194, in Balochistan 33,092 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 106,241, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,359 while 34,360 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 28,173 deaths so far, after 21 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 12,800 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,505 in Sindh, 5,657 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 350 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 935 deaths and AJK recorded 740 deaths. According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 19,997,075, corona tests and 43,578 in last 24 hours and 1,191,425 patients have recovered. Reportedly, 433,906 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 410,266 in Punjab, 166,728 in KP, 32,566 in Balochistan, 103,284 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,082 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,333 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 2,280 patients are in critical condition.
