Coronavirus infects 5,472 more in Pakistan, kills eight in single day

ISLAMABAD: 19, JANUARY, 2022: Coronavirus infections tally in the country has mounted 1,338,993 on Wednesday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 5,472 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 9.48 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 509,308 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 455,499, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 182,619, in Balochistan 33,744 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 112,557, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,455 while 34,811 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 29,037 deaths so far, after eight deaths were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,091 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,709 in Sindh, 5,965 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 969 deaths and AJK recorded 749 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 24,297,430, corona tests and 57,669 in last 24 hours and 1,265,239 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 472,527 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 431,044 in Punjab, 175,457 in KP, 33,284 in Balochistan, 108,106 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,243 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,950 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 908 patients are in critical condition.
