Coronavirus: Pakistan sees daily cases drop below 2,000

ISLAMABAD: 21, DECEMBER, 2020: The number of coronavirus infections has mounted to 458,968 on Monday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 1,792 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the total count of active cases increased up to 40,491.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 204,840 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 131,933, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 55,183, in Balochistan 17,926 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 36,257, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 4,827 while 8,002 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 9,392 deaths so far, after 62 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 3,638 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 3,333 in Sindh, 1,546 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 99 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 179 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 391 deaths and AJK recorded 206 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 6,336,113 corona tests and 34,772 in last 24 hours and 409,085 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 180730 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 119998 in Punjab, 49121 in KP, 17372 in Balochistan, 30373 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 4617 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 6874 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 2,403 patients are in a critical condition across the country.
