Covid-19 kills 60 more people in Pakistan, 5,661 new cases reported

ISLAMABAD: 05, AUGUST, 2021: The number of coronavirus cases has climbed 1,053,660 on Thursday after more infections were reported in different parts of the country.

According to the national database 5,661 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 9.06 percent.

As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 392,433 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 360,494, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 146,485, in Balochistan 30,880 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 89,117, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 8,473 while 25,778 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In addition, the country has recorded 23,635 deaths so far, after 60 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.

As per official data, Punjab recorded 11,122 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 6,098 in Sindh, 4,495 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 148 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 329 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 807 deaths and AJK recorded 636 deaths.

According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 16,278,190, corona tests and 62,462 in last 24 hours and 952,616 patients have recovered. 

Reportedly, 339,379 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 334,305 in Punjab, 136,868 in KP, 29,074 in Balochistan, 83,918 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 7,467 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 21,605 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 4,050 patients are in critical condition across the country.
