Dengue infections continue to rise in capital, 92 more cases surface

ISLAMABAD: 21, OCTOBER, 2021: Dengue cases continue to rise in the federal capital, Islamabad as 92 another infections surfaced during the past 24 hours. Of the new cases of mosquito-borne disease in Islamabad, 38 were reported in rural areas while 54 in urban areas, sources said, adding a total of 2,429 people have got infected with the disease in capital.
Sources further said rural areas have seen 1,479 cases while urban 950 cases, whereas the death toll mounted to nine.
In Sindh, 13 more people were tested positive for dengue fever during past 24 hours.
It is to be noted that, an alarming rise in dengue fever infections has set alarm bells ringing in parts of country. Delay in fumigation by the administration resulted in an upsurge in dengue patients this season, the sources said.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that has rapidly spread in all regions in recent years.
Dengue is widespread throughout the tropics, with local variations in risk influenced by rainfall, temperature, relative humidity and unplanned rapid urbanization. (04)
