Dengue virus claims five more lives in Punjab, pushing death toll to 105

LAHORE: 18, NOVEMBER, 2021: Dengue continues to increase in parts of country as 306 another cases surfaced during last 24 hours in Punjab on Thursday. Dengue virus took five more lives in the province bringing the total death toll to 105. As per details, out of the five victims of the virus, three were from Lahore while other two were from Gujranwala and Khanewal.
110 people infected with the dengue virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) while nine people have lost their lives in the province, so far.
Delay in fumigation by the administration resulted in an upsurge in dengue patients this season, the sources said.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that has rapidly spread in all regions in recent years.
Dengue is widespread throughout the tropics, with local variations in risk influenced by rainfall, temperature, relative humidity and unplanned rapid urbanization. (04)
