Dengue virus takes two lives in Punjab, 74 more infections surface

LAHORE: 29, NOVEMBER, 2021: Dengue continues to increase in Punjab as 74 another cases surfaced during last 24 hours in the province and two people lost their lives due to virus.
According to Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, Dengue virus took two more lives in Lahore bringing the total death toll in the province to 143 and the province witnessed overall 25,013 infections.
On the other hand, 34 citizens have been diagnosed with the dengue fever in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whereas 10 people have died so far in the province.
Delay in fumigation by the administration resulted in an upsurge in dengue patients this season, the sources said.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that has rapidly spread in all regions in recent years.
Dengue fever is basically a mosquito-borne infection that can lead to a severe flu-like illness. It is caused by Aedes mosquitoes.
Dengue is widespread throughout the tropics, with local variations in risk influenced by rainfall, temperature, relative humidity and unplanned rapid urbanization. (04)
