Dense fog, cold wave grips Karachi

KARACHI: 21, JANUARY, 2021: Karachi faced dense fog early Thursday as cold and dry weather continued to prevail in the city.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the areas include II Chundrigar Road, Shahra e Faisal, University Road, Super Highway and other parts of the metropolis were covered in fog.
The city recorded temperature at 14 degree Celsius with winds blowing at the speed of 3 kilometres per hour.
On Wednesday, the Meteorological Department said in its report that minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 11.5 degree Celsius as cold spell to remain in Karachi in next 24 hours.
Met Office said in its weather report, cold and dry weather to persist in the city while maximum temperature in daytime likely to reach to 28 degree Celsius.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Northerly/Northeasterly winds are blowing in the city with 12 kilometres per hour wind speed.
As per weather report, a new weather system will enter in Karachi from Balochistan on Saturday night.
The westerly wave will bring gusty Siberian winds with a speed from 22 to above 30 kilometres per hour, the report added.
It further that new cold spell will start in the metropolis from Sunday and will continue for at least three days. (04)
