Islamabad: 27 Sep 2023: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced the names of preliminary constituency delimitation on Wednesday, marking a crucial step toward 2018 elections. The initial delimitation exercise was to be finished on October 7 and preliminary proposals for delimitation together with the report were to be published on October 9 according to the original delimitation schedule established by the ECP on Aug. 17 — ten days following the notification of census results.
However, the ECP had declared on September 1 that the delimitation exercise's deadlines would be shortened by 14 days, ending on November 30 rather than December 14.
The completion of the delimitation pushes ECP closer to conducting elections by the body-planned deadline of the last week of January. a certain date elections is yet to be announced. In a press release issued today, the ECP said the report of preliminary delimitation, along with the lists (Form 5), has been uploaded on the commission’s website and can be accessed by the public. Maps of the initial delimitation are also available on the website.
