Punjab government had made coronavirus vaccination mandatory for the teachers, administration and other staff members of all the public and private schools.

Earlier, all Pakistan Private Schools Federation President Kashif Mirza on Tuesday had opposed the government's decision to pass all matric and intermediate students who appeared in exams this year.

In his statement, Private Schools Federation president termed the govt's decision as a "joke" with the competent students.

Mirza also criticized the move of starting the next academic year from August.

It is to be noted that the government had decided to pass all matric and intermediate students who appeared in exams this year.

The decision, taken in a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Shafqat Mahmood, is aimed at avoiding a re-sit of examinations during the pandemic.

It was also decided that students that fail to clear the matric and intermediate part-II papers would be awarded extra marks.

The meeting also decided that all matric and intermediate exams will take place in May and June next year, while the new session for these classes will start in August next year. (04)
