CAIRO: 18, SEPTEMBER, 2020: Egypt has announced to resume exports of anti-coronavirus products including facemasks, alcohol products, and other medical goods as the country records significant drop in number of daily virus cases.
A decision to ban sales of the goods used in treating the novel virus was made in mid-March as the number of coronavirus infections in the country spiked.
According to the ministry statement, Nevine Gamea, a trade minister of Egypt, had given the green signal for resuming exports following comprehensive checks with the concerned authorities.
Gamea pointed out that the government was keen to ensure it had all the necessary supplies in place to continue dealing with the health crisis while also maintaining exports of Egyptian goods such as alcohol and its by-products, medical items, and facemasks.
The decision to resume exports aimed at preserving the health and safety of citizens while boosting national economic growth, the minister added.
Companies producing anti-COVID-19 medical supplies including N95 masks, all types of alcohol and related by-products, facemasks, protective suits, latex gloves, and face shields and glasses, could now start selling abroad again, she further informed.
