New York: 3 Jan 2023: Not all records broken by one of the wealthiest people in the world are necessarily good ones.
Tesla’s Elon Musk has become the first person ever to lose $200 billion from his net worth, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
After his wealth peaked in 2021 at $340 billion, it plunged to $137 billion after Tesla shares fell 65% in the past year. Musk was the second person to ever accumulate a wealth of more than $200 billion, along with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
2022 was the Twitter owner and CEO’s worst year to date, as he was also replaced as the world’s richest person by Bernard Arnault.
Musk sold a considerable portion of his Tesla stock last year to purchase Twitter for $44 billion.
