Global coronavirus death toll reaches 2,117,678

WASHINGTON: 23, JANUARY, 2021: The countries all over the world are facing continuous spike in COVID-19 related cases and deaths, despite the strict restrictions.
The number of coronavirus cases recorded worldwide has crossed 98 million (98,802,604), according to John Hopkins and AFP tally while the deadly virus claimed 2,117,678 lives worldwide so far and 71,009,435 patients have been recuperated.
The number of people infected with corona in the US, the world's hardest-hit country has risen to 25,390,042 and the total number of deaths has reached 424,177.
India, the second hardest-hit country reported 10,640,544 cases with 153,221 deaths.
Brazil is the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus, with 8,755,133 patients and 215,299 deaths.
In Russia, 3,698,273 people have been infected by Corona while the total death toll rose to 68,971.
South Africa, the fifth highest number of infections in the world, after the US, Brazil, India and Russia. The death toll from Coronavirus in South Africa has risen nearly 40,070, with 1,392,568 people affected.
In UK, the virus infections reached 3,583,907 and death toll rose to 95,981.
On the other hand, Mexico reported 1,732,290 cases so far with 147,614 fatalities.
The coronavirus has infected more than 3,011,257 people in France and left 72,647 dead.
Number of cases in Spain has climbed to 2,603,472 with 55,441 deaths.
The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has jumped to 1,360,852 and 57,225 have been died.
Turkey reported 2,418,472 cases so far while death toll jumped to 24,789.
The total figure of fatalities due to coronavirus reached 84,674 in Italy while 2,441,854 infections recorded.
Germany registered 2,125,261 patients with 52,020 deaths.
The number of cases in Colombia surged 1,987,418 and death toll crossed 50,586.
