ISLAMABAD: March 2 2024: Senators from different political affiliations engaged in a dispute on Friday over a letter by PTI founding chairman Imran Khan to the IMF. In the letter, Imran Khan connected the release of the next tranche of the bailout package for Pakistan with an audit of the recently conducted general elections.

Senator Saadia Abbasi from the PML-N, addressing the matter in the house, expressed regret over inviting the global lender to intervene in Pakistan's internal affairs.

She asserted that the IMF had no role as an investigative agency and should not impose its will on matters related to Pakistan's sovereignty. Senator Abbasi pointed out that Mr. Khan currently held a significant role as one of the strongest opposition parties.
