Karachi: Fire in betel nut warehouse doused

KARACHI: 19, NOVEMBER, 2021: Fire that erupted in a betel nut godown in Karachi on Thursday night has been doused.
According to details, the blaze broke out in a betel nut warehouse located in Joria Bazaar area of Karachi, at a ground floor of a three-storey warehouse which spread very quickly and engulfed the entire building.
After getting information, three fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and brought the fire under control after hectic effort of several hours.
Rescue sources said that, the fire broke out due to short circuit.
No human loss or injuries was reported in the incident. However, valuables worth millions of rupees were destroyed by the fire.
Earlier, on November 14, at least 35 shops were reduced to rubble after a fire broke out on Sunday evening at Cooperative Market near Regal Chowk in Karachi's Saddar area.
No loss of life was reported in the incident. However, valuables worth million of rupees were reduced to ashes, sources said.
The fire broke out in one shop and soon engulfed several other shops in the market, they added.
As many as eight fire tenders took part in the rescue and relief operation.
Fire brigade official said "Yesterday, it was a holiday so many shops were closed which are now being checked after breaking the locks." (04)
