Karachi Covid-19 Positivity Rate Hits 46.58pc

KARACHI: 21, JANUARY, 2022: The coronavirus Omicron variant cases continue to rise in Karachi while the positivity ratio has surged 46.58%, Sindh health department officials said on Friday.
According to details, 3739 new cases of coronavirus have surfaced in Karachi.
On the other hand, positivity rate in Islamabad was 18.91, Hyderabad 6pc.
It is to be noted that, coronavirus infections tally in the country has jumped to 1,353,479 on Friday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 7,678 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 12.93 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 516,874 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 458,879, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 183,403, in Balochistan 33,812 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 115,047, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,467 while 34,997 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 29,065 deaths so far, after 23 deaths were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,096 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,727 in Sindh, 5,968 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 971 deaths and AJK recorded 749 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 24,415,716, corona tests and 59,343 in last 24 hours and 1,265,665 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 473,340 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 431,669 in Punjab, 175,602 in KP, 33,287 in Balochistan, 108,372 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,243 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,966 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 961 patients are in critical condition.
