Karachi Covid-19 Positivity Rate hits 41pc

KARACHI: 20, JANUARY, 2022: The coronavirus Omicron variant cases continue to rise in Karachi while the positivity ratio has surged 41%, Sindh health department officials said on Thursday.
On the other hand, positivity rate in Muzaffarabad was 25pc, Hyderabad 17.27pc, Islamabad 15.37pc, Lahore 14.25pc, Rawalpindi 12.75pc and Peshawar at 11.02 pc.
It is to be noted that, coronavirus infections tally in the country has climbed 1,345,801 on Thursday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 6,808 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 11.55 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 513,046 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 456,992, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 182,950, in Balochistan 33,780 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 113,688, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,461 while 34,884 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 29,042 deaths so far, after five deaths were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 13,093 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,710 in Sindh, 5,967 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 367 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 969 deaths and AJK recorded 749 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 24,356,373, corona tests and 58,943 in last 24 hours and 1,265,665 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 473,008 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 431,357 in Punjab, 175,557 in KP, 33,286 in Balochistan, 108,253 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,243 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,961 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 918 patients are in critical condition.
