No Honor in Honor killing: Doctor kills teenage daughter her friend for ‘honor’ in Karachi

Karachi: 27 August 2023: Near Karachi's Gulshan-i-Iqbal neighborhood on Friday, a senior doctor fatally shot his teenage daughter and her companion "in the name of honor," according to the police.According to East-SSP Zubair Nazeer Shaikh's statement, the suspect had ties to the Orangi-based Sindh Government Qatar Hospital.

Shaikh claimed that the girl's father, known only as Rafiq Shaikh, is the top medical officer at the government-run hospital and has an MBBS degree.

The victims, according to him, were in a car when the girl's father allegedly started shooting randomly at the daughter and her friend.The senior official claimed that preliminary investigations suggested "honour" was connected to the double homicide. 

For the required legal procedures, the bodies were transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.The girl had four gunshot wounds, according to police physician Dr. Summaiya Syed, while the male victim suffered eight bullet injuries.
