JAMSHORO: 07, SEPTEMBER, 2021: (Report by: Ali Murad Chandio): Consul General of Republic of Korea in Karachi Kim Haksung visited Sindh Universities Area Study Center, Far East and South East Asia and donated over 100 books written on Korean culture, history, politics and economic affairs.
Director of the Area Study Center Dr. Mukesh Kumar Khatwani received the guests and briefed him about the research and academic activities being carried out in the center.
On the occasion, the Korean diplomat expresssed his desire to collaborate with Area Study Center in order to boost research activities for want of mutual interest.
"We can organize joint seminars, workshops and exhibitions at ASC and bring scholars from both the countries together on a single platform so that they may be provided with the opportunity to share their experiences with each other," he said.
The diplomat also expressed his interest to sing a Memorundum of Understanding (MoU) for strengthening cooperation between Area Study Center and Korean Embassy Office in Karachi. Director ASC and Consul General agreed to hold joint seminars, conferences and cultural exhibitions soon after inking MoU.
During his visits, the CG also donated over 100 books about culture, history, politics and economic affairs of the Republic of Korea.
He approached the director to establish Korean Research Corner in the Area Study Center.
He at the junture assured Dr Khatwani of donating more books and research material for the proposed Korean research corner.
Director ASC told him that he will seek formal permission from the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro regarding establishment of Korean Research Corner at ASC and will get back to him. (04)
