LUMHS organizes one-day seminar on Newborn Pediatric Problems

JAMSHORO: 30, MARCH, 2022: (Report By: Ali Murad Chandio): Department of Pediatrics, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) organized a one-day seminar on Newborn Pediatric Problems, Early detection and timely referral at a local hotel in Hyderabad.
Vice-Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Dr. Ikram Din Ujjan said in his statement that I am happy that LUMHS doctors and professors are always engaged in performing their duties, he said. It is very important to take care of newborns.
Young children are like flowers. Chairperson Pediatric Department LUMHS Professor Shazia Memon in her welcome address said that premature birth and its complications are the major cause of neonatal deaths. Good hospital delivery reduces infant mortality.
Professor of Pediatric Bilawal Medical College Prof. Salma Sheikh in her lecture said that 16,000 babies are born every day in Pakistan during one month out of which 42 babies die.
He said that if they were treated on time and better facilitated, infant mortality could be reduced, said Prof. Chetan Das. I come to know that children are born by midwives which is dangerous for both mother and child, on this occasion Prof. Hassan Memon, Prof. Aslam Memon, and Professor Abdul Rehman Siyal, Dr Abdul Hameed Radhan, Dr Khuda Bux Khoso and others spoke.
