NCOC ends operations, PM congratulates team for response to pandemic

ISLAMABAD: 31, MARCH, 2022: Today is the last day of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the nation's never centre for handling the Covid-19 pandemic, will be closed.
The announcement was made by NCOC head and Minister for Planning and Development and Asad Umar on Twitter.
In a tweet, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar wrote that, "Today is the last day of NCOC operation. With Covid indicators at all-time lows and high level of vaccination, baton (has) now being passed on to health ministry."
"Chairing the NCOC during the last two years and working with the 'dedicated team' had been the greatest ‘privilege and honour' of his life," he added.
He said the country has successfully tackled the novel virus as a result of whole of the nation approch, adding that our response to the pandemic was also acknowledged by the international organizations.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday has congratulated the center for a professional and nationally coordinated response to COVID-19 pandemic.
In a tweet, he wrote that "our coronavirus response was recognized by the international agencies and people in the field as one of the most successful globally." (04)
