NCOC head says Punjab's 52pc eligible population vaccinated with at least corona vaccine first dose

ISLAMABAD: 04, NOVEMBER, 2021: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Thursday said that Punjab becomes the first province to have over half of its eligible population vaccinated with at least Covid-19 vaccine's one dose.
In a tweet, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) head, said that "Punjab becomes the first province to have more than half it's eligible population with at least one dose at 52%. KP follows with 48%, Sind 40% and Balochistan at 17%.
"Federal territories leading in vaccination with Islamabad 87%, AJK 59% & GB 54%. National average has reached 48%," he added.
It is to be noted that, coronavirus infections tally in the country has jumped to 1,275,158 on Thursday after more cases were reported in different parts of the country.
According to the national database, 580 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in 24 hours whereas the positivity rate stands at 1.32 percent.
As per sources, cases in Sindh climbed to 470,978 the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Punjab stood at 440,678, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases jumped to 178,319, in Balochistan 33,280 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases reached 107,022, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 10,392 while 34,489 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In addition, the country has recorded 28,496 deaths so far, after 19 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.
As per official data, Punjab recorded 12,936 deaths, a highest number as compared to any other province while 7,579 in Sindh, 5,757 deaths were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 356 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 941 deaths and AJK recorded 741 deaths.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 20,966,900, corona tests and 43,901 in last 24 hours and 1,224,085 patients have recovered.
Reportedly, 450,486 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 420,076 in Punjab, 171,069 in KP, 32,817 in Balochistan, 105,768 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 10,174 in Gilgit-Baltistan while in AJK 33,695 patients have been completely recovered across Pakistan whereas 1,247 patients are in critical condition.
